Why I started this blog
I’ve spent over two decades in the workforce, with a significant part of my career in leadership, working closely with teams, developing people, and navigating the realities of what it actually means to lead. During that time, I experience two very different kind of leaders.
I worked with leaders who created space. Space to think, grow, learn, and lead in a way that felt natural to me. They challenged me, supported me, and gave me the kind of feedback that builds confidence and capability at the same time. Those leaders didn’t try to shape me into someone else. They helped me become more of who I already was.
I also worked with leaders who did the opposite. Leaders who tried to define leadership for me. Who pushed me into a box that didn’t fit, discouraged individuality, and made it clear that success meant becoming a version of leadership that wasn’t mine.
Both experiences taught me something I will never forget. When you are supported in developing your own leadership style, you become a stronger, more effective leader.
When you are forced to lead like someone else, everything becomes harder, for you and for the people you lead.
That’s why You Do You exists.
What I believe about Leadership
Leadership is not a script. It’s not a checklist. And it’s definitely not one-size-fits-all.
